In Conversation with Pilates Instructor Micki Havard

I had the pleasure of having a chat with the amazing entrepreneur and Pilates instructor Micki Havard. Micki is based in Atlanta, USA and I talked to her about life in Atlanta Pilates and much more.

Right now... 
I just finished the final touches on my 90 days weight training for my fitness app

The best thing about living in Atlanta is...
that most of my family lives here, although it’s hard to choose one thing.

My favorite Pilates Studio in Atlanta is... 
ATL Kula. It is a very welcoming studio with a wide variety of classes. 

My first Pilates experience was...
through CD's of Mari Winsor.

A Pilates equipment I can not be without is... 
a mat. I love matwork and the Magic Circle is definitely my fave prop. 

My secret to keeping up with my Pilates routine is…
to make it a part of my schedule, the same way I put in filming for my platforms and creating content etc. 

The best thing about Pilates is... 
that you can do it almost anywhere with absolutely no equipment. 

My go to Pilates moves is... 
the ab series, it’s probably what I do the most. 

A studio I would love to visit is…
an outdoor studio in Bali.

The best music to listen to, when doing Pilates, is…
anything from Drake to Sade. It depends on the mood.

The first thing I do after a Pilates session is... 
usually eat breakfast. My personal sessions are usually in the morning after the Today Show. 

I always prepare for a Pilates session by... 
jumping right in! That's one of the great things about Pilates...you can start slow and stay there or take it up to your desired pace. 

Typical for my Pilates is... 
LOTS of variations. I like to meet people where they are. 

My favorite food is... 
Thai - Massaman Curry with tofu or shrimp.

My feeling after a workout are always... 
satisfied, no matter how long or short the workout.

A book that everyone should read is... 
Pilates for Everyone, by me. How could I miss the opportunity to plug my book? 

When times get tough I tell myself... 
“You can do hard things”.

Last time I was embarrassed was…
probably when I showed up at the salon on the wrong day… for the 2nd time. But I don't get embarrassed easily, so I really had to think about this one. 

Right now I am extra curious about…
limiting forward flexion, but still getting the benefits that it provides. 

One thing I can't be without, in life is... 
family.

The most important thing I’ve learned in life so far is... 
be audacious.
